The Gathering Place Church exists to lead people to know God (John 17:3).

  • The Bible teaches us that God has made people to know Him. But because we're all sinful, we cannot know God in the way He intended. But God, who is rich in mercy and because of His great love, sent His Son Jesus to live a sinless life (in our place), die the death reserved for sinners (in our place), and be raised up from the dead. He is alive now, and He extends His sovereign, saving grace to every man, woman, boy, or girl that will call upon His name in repentance and faith. This is the Good News, or the Gospel, that Jesus lived, died, and rose in our place, to restore us back to God.
  • This is the message that we have received and which we seek to preserve, cherish, and deliver as it has been entrusted to us. We believe this message is the hope of the world, and we our desire is to lead people to know God through the person and work of Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit!

The Gathering Place Wardville is an elder-led, community focused, Southern Baptist church. It is comprised of a group of covenanted people who come together to fulfill both the Great Commission and the "one anothers" found in the New Testament. We celebrate and highlight the gospel of Jesus in our times of corporate worship, and we spur one another on to treasure Jesus in our small group times.

Worship (Our Response to the Gospel)

At The Gathering Place Wardville, we believe that gathering with other Christians for worship and fellowship is a necessity. We come together to lift our praises to the Lord and remind each other of the Gospel (Colossians 3:16-17). We gather in hopes of hearing God’s voice and doing what He says (John 14:21), both as individuals and as a church. Our normal worship practices are: singing, public reading of Scripture, expository preaching of the Bible, believer's baptism by immersion, and weekly commuion (the Lord's Supper). These family gatherings are meant to encourage us toward Christian maturity and mission.

Families (Little Pictures of the Gospel)

We believe that God is, first and foremost, a Triune Family (John 17:1John 17:22-23). God teaches us in the Bible that He is one God in three persons--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Because of this, we believe that our family dynamics are to take their cues from the love of the persons of the Godhead for one another and the church (Ephesians 5:25-33, Ephesians 5:20-24and Ephesians 6:1-4). As a church, we strive to support marriages and families by providing resources and encouragement.  We have a variety of activities that aid families in learning about the Lord together.  These activities include Sunday morning Family Celebration (a time for families with young children to worship together), Mommy & Me (a weekly get-together for moms and children hosted at various places), and special family events throughout the year.

The Church (The People of the Gospel)

Just like God is a Family, He is also a Triune Community. Before He ever created the world, God enjoyed perfect and all-satisfying community within Himself (John 17:24). The church is made up of people who are motivated to serve others and engage in intimate fellowship by their love for God (John 13:34-35).  Our church is made up of several Life Groups that meet weekly. These groups will often share a meal, study Scripture, pray together, reach out to the community, and sometimes even play games together. These groups serve to meet the immediate needs of our members-- we share in celebrations and struggles, lift up one another in prayer, and provide accountability and guidance when needed.

The World (Those Who Need the Gospel)

We believe strongly that God has planted our church in an area that He wants to hear the good news about Jesus and be made into disciples (Matthew 28:18-20).

We have also been blessed to partner with several families who have committed their lives to move all over the world to spread the gospel .  From Alaska to Bulgaria, we support a network of believers who have traded the comforts of home to live out the Great Commission and other mission-oriented commands in Scripture (Acts 1:8).  We have been called to not only care for these families financially but also work beside them on the ground as needs arise.  We will send teams throughout the year as the Lord directs.

Service (How We Minister the Gospel)

Through meeting the needs of the people in our community and forming authentic relationships, we hope to have God’s love fully expressed through us (2 Corinthians 5:20-21).  We have several ministry teams that have started up because our members were seeking the Lord and being obedient to His commands. We praise God because He has given each of us gifts with which He intends to build up His church and advance His kingdom (Ephesians 4:11-16, 1 Corinthians 12:4-7)
